Overview

Recently, the Vancouver Musicians’ Association (VMA) reached out to Sparkjoy with the goal of creating a new membership portal, gig estimation tool, and website. The VMA serves a large number of musicians, promoters, and other industry professionals in British Columbia, and they needed an online experience that was intuitive and helpful to users. In addition, they were struggling with manual workflows and needed a way to streamline their processes and ease their burden.

Member Management Portal

The Member Management portal, crafted by Pantegral for the Vancouver Musicians’ Association (VMA 145), is a comprehensive web application designed to simplify membership administration. It offers a self-service platform where members can manage their profiles and access VMA documents, while also improving the visibility of member services to the public. The portal integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks, enabling efficient handling of billing, invoicing, and payments. The system also supports robust communication and notification tools and can generate detailed CSV reports on member data, along with other advanced features.

Gig Estimator

The Gig Estimator is a tool similar to our Automated Proposal Generator (APG), but designed for music promoters. It gives users who are interested in booking musicians a way to budget and automatically generate proposed contracts with the VMA. With the Gig Estimator, users can add or remove musicians, request specific contractors, and download a proposal before connecting with VMA representatives.

For the VMA, it creates a central space to review interested leads and well-rounded proposals, saving both time and effort.

Website

The VMA also needed a website refresh. As a staple of British Columbia’s creative community, it needed an online experience that meets users where they are and represents the passion of its members. Meeting these needs helps build trust with the people they serve. We created a website that uses sparse, emotion-laden visuals to accentuate the VMA’s story and services. This way, the visuals are not just pleasing to look at, but also utilitarian and vital to every idea presented on the new site.
